2017 Elk Season CLOSED!!

The 2017 Elk Season has been closed due to a lack of cow elk. Researchers from California State have called it a state of emergency when the cow elk population dropped to an all time low since the 1996 survey. According to the researchers, there was a disease outbreak killing off over 70 percent of the population. One of the researchers went far enough to say that “We are afraid that the numbers may need as long as 10 to 12 years to recover. But for now, only this year’s season has been cancelled. We hope to have it back next year.” This will be devastating for those who depend on elk for food.
