24 Year old Arrested for ID Theft, Credit Card Fraud

Lansing, MI.- Shanice Jay, a Sterling Heights woman is behind bars after police arrested her on 174 charges of identity theft, credit card fraud and related offenses.

Michigan State Police say investigators concluded a seven-month investigation into the alleged identity theft of a 28-year-old Delaware woman.

Police say detectives were first contacted by the victim on March 11, after she noticed someone had transferred a balance of $2,500 onto her Capital One credit card. The victim also advised that someone had also accessed her MBNA Bank of America credit card account with a name and Michigan address.

According to detectives, Jay allegedly used the victim’s credit information and an alias to open credit card accounts. Police say Jay would then use the credit cards to make purchases at the Hotels, Finish Line, and Footlocker shoes, Nordstrom, Wal-Mart and Benihana. Police say that in addition, Jay allegedly opened a cellular phone account using the victim’s credit information.

Jay was arrested and charged with identity theft, second-degree conspiracy, two counts of criminal impersonation, two counts of unlawful use of credit card and theft.

Jay was released on $9,000 unsecured bond.
