Alabama Deer 2017-2018 Is in Danger of Cancellation

Alabama Department of Natural Resources and Wildlife Council officials met in the states Capitol this week in discussion of possible cancellation of 2017-2018 deer season. The reasons have yet to be opened to the public but rumors of population drop and drastic climate shift have hurt the herds throughout the state. Approximately 28% more Whitetail deer have fallen victim to disease and weather changes in the 2016-2017 season than ever before. Talks of cancelling the upcoming deer season in hopes to give the herds a fighting chance to repopulate in massive numbers, so the loss of our species isn’t an issue. The final meeting will be held Monday, May 1st of 2017 in Montgomery.
