Albemarle man charged with cold case murder!

Johnathan Lee Deeter of Albemarle was charged with the murder of 18 year old Jason Riggs of South Carolina. On Jan. 21, 2009 South Carolina police were called to a home on the 1900 block of Semper St. in South Carolina. Upon arriving they found 18 year old Jason Riggs with 7 gunshot wounds to the upperbody, medical personnel declared Riggs dead at the scene. “After 8 long years we have made an arrest in the case” says Police Chief Stevens. We were able to link DNA from the scene to Mr. Brown. “We knew it was someone Riggs knew, and it seems it was a dispute over money” added Stevens. Deeter was placed in custody without incident, and is currently waiting for extradition to South Carolina. While police were walking Deeter to the police vehicle, he spoke out saying “It was me or him, put yourself in my shoes” he will be held in South Carolina with a $1,000,000 bond and expected to be in court by late 2017.
