Amarillo Man to play in U.S. Open this June

21 year old Matt Jones is the making some headlines today as the PGA invites him to play in the U.S open. Although he’s never played in a PGA tour event he still has a legit chance to win. Early this year, before Tiger Woods started having back problems. Jones beat woods by 3 strokes in a friendly round at the famous Augusta National golf club.

Here is what Jones had to say. ” it’s very humbling for me, I’m just a broke college kid trying to find my way in this world, but if starting my PGA career at the U.S. Open is what God had planned for me” I’ll definitely take it.”

Jones said he has been busy finishing up this semester at WTAMU then it’s off to Arizona to try and get Phil Mickelsons swing adjusted. The relationship between the two is great and Phil doesn’t mind listening to a young guy like Jones. Don’t be surprised folks if you see this kids name at the top of the leaderboard come Sunday at the U.S. Open.
