A man is dead, a gunman is on the loose and a Raleigh community is on edge.

The fatal shooting happened in front of a convenient store just before nine this morning.

Tasha thomas told FOX13 she was a little shaken to hear her husband witnessed a shooting at a convenient store in their neighborhood.

“I went home for little minute to get myself together because I was all panic and my heart dropped. I didn’t know what was going on,” Thomas said.

Police say they were waved down on just before nine Monday morning on Hawkins Mill Road in Raleigh after a man was shot in front of this store.

Memphis Police say it’s believed the victim and suspect knew each other. The suspect name is Travun Perry

Thomas says she’s not surprised that anything like this would happen at the neighborhood store with Travun

“I live right in the neighborhood with young man and I pass this store up and go to the next store down the street,” Thomas said.

The victim was sent to the hospital in critical condition, where he later died.

The suspect last seen in a grey SUV.

MPD Colonel James Kirkwood says senseless violence like this shouldn’t happen and communities shouldn’t stand a let it continue.

“We sit down and have a conversation about our sons doing these type of things and telling them it has to stop. It needs to come to an end.”
