Franklin County man arrested after a high speed chase getaway.

On April 26th at approximately 1:30 p.m. a 911 call was received regarding an orange mustang driving through Benton Illinois at a high rate of speed. Sheriff deputies spotted the suspect turning North on Route 37. The Mustang was first clocked at 55 mph in a 30 mph speed zone. The driver was weaving in and out of traffic. This caused a two car pile up at the intersextion of Rt 37 and Bailey Lane. Speeds got up to 120 mph before the deputies lost sight of the mustang. The registration came back to Tad Ash of Ewing Illinois. The subject 47 year old Tad Ash was later located at his residence. When questioned regarding the high rate of speed, Tad’s response was “I had to get my fish cleaned before they go bad.” Mr. Ash was taken into custody without incident. $1000 bond was posted and he was released pending court appearance on May 13th 2017.
