A known gang leader pleaded not guilty to a charge of cocaine trafficking, when he appeared before an Arima Magistrate, after allegedly attempting to board a flight to Barbados, with cocaine concealed in his luggage.
Kevin Nicolas, 28, of Hitler Street, Trou Macaque, Laventille, was at the Piarco International Airport, around 7:30am on Friday 27th April, 2017, preparing to board flight BW415, destined for Barbados, when he was stopped and interviewed at a security checkpoint.
The suspectโs suitcase was searched and 5.20 kilogrammes of cocaine were allegedly discovered concealed inside.
The drug has an estimated street value of over 3 million TT dollars.
Nicholas, was charged by PC Fullerton of the Arima Police Station and appeared before Senior Magistrate Gillian Scotland, in the Arima 1st Magistratesโ Court, on Monday 24th April, 2017.
The matter was adjourned to Friday 28th April, 2017.
