Gang leader held with Millions in Cocaine at Airport

A known gang leader pleaded not guilty to a charge of cocaine trafficking, when he appeared before an Arima Magistrate, after allegedly attempting to board a flight to Barbados, with cocaine concealed in his luggage.

Kevin Nicolas, 28, of Hitler Street, Trou Macaque, Laventille, was at the Piarco International Airport, around 7:30am on Friday 27th April, 2017, preparing to board flight BW415, destined for Barbados, when he was stopped and interviewed at a security checkpoint.

The suspectโ€™s suitcase was searched and 5.20 kilogrammes of cocaine were allegedly discovered concealed inside.

The drug has an estimated street value of over 3 million TT dollars.

Nicholas, was charged by PC Fullerton of the Arima Police Station and appeared before Senior Magistrate Gillian Scotland, in the Arima 1st Magistratesโ€™ Court, on Monday 24th April, 2017.

The matter was adjourned to Friday 28th April, 2017.
