“I vex with myself.”

Finance Minister Colm Imbert said he too is angry over the property tax, but things are tough in the country and everyone needs to contribute to revenue.

“Things are tight, you know. We have a $20-billion gap in financing and Trinidad and Tobago as a country has less money available to it now than it has had for a very long time. Things are tough so we have to look for alternative sources of financing,” he said.

“I know people don’t like property tax. I and all vex with myself because I have to pay, so I vex with myself. You know you hear calypsoes like that, ‘himself vex with himself that himself has to fill out the form and pay the tax’. I don’t like it, but this country is in a very difficult position and we need everybody to contribute to the revenues of the country and unfortunately this is one of the measures we must continue with,” he added.

” Eh I joking eh all yuh, I know how to write that off but you don’t so HA! pay yuh damn money, daddy Colm need a new yacht”
