Jackpot Winner Finally Comes Forwards

OHIO – A family living near Youngstown, OH will go down in the record books as being the first Buckeye Lottery players to win a Mega Millionsยฎ jackpot of this magnitude. Sandy Nosseir, originally from Puerto Rico, won $293 million by matching all six numbers in the April 7th Mega Millions drawing. The lucky lady presented their winning ticket to Ohio Lottery Officials in Cleveland today.

Sandra Nosseir’s daughter, Sherry Nosseir, also of Ohio acted as spokesperson for her mom and accepted the winnings on behalf of her family in a press conference at Buckeyes Lottery Headquarters this afternoon.

“We are truly blessed and thankful,” said Ms. Nosseir

Sandy and her family have elected to take payment in one lump sum and received a payment of approximately $129 million before taxes.
The lucky ticket was purchased by this mother of 3 at Strack & Van Til at 12 Ridge Road in Sharon, PA . She purchases tickets each week with change leftover in her purse. That day, it was the only ticket she purchased, and she purchased it at the clerk’s suggestion. With one dollar to spend on a Lottery ticket, she simply said to the clerk, “Give me anything.” The clerk handed her a Mega Millions ticket and she tucked it in her purse, never expecting “anything” to be $129 million dollars.

As for her plans for the money, the winner plan to retire, get tons of cosmetic surgeries and travel the world with her family. Also, -“we plan to surprise those who where by our side when we needed help the most…”- said the lucky winner.

The retailer will receive a $100,000 bonus. (1% of $46.5 million capped at $100,000).

The winning numbers from April-7 drawing were 30-33-43-47-69 MB: 15.
Friday’s Mega Millions jackpot is an estimated $52 million.

As with all Ohio Lottery games, the net income generated from Ohio sales of Mega Millions is turned over to the state. Last year, the Ohio Lottery transferred millions to the state where it was allocated to teachers, police and firefighters retirement funds as well as the Build Ohio Fund which ultimately reduces Buckeyes’ license plate costs.

The Buckeyes Lottery reminds all players to please play responsibly.
