Kansas City Missouri’s Bid for the 2024 Summer Olympics Now Being Considered

In a press release earlier today, Kansas City, Missouri’s mayor, Sly James, announced that the International Olympic Committee has decided to consider KCMO’s bid along with Paris and Los Angeles. This unprecedented consideration comes as a surprised after the IOC had already narrowed down the choices. But after reviewing the facilities already in place including the Truman Sports Complex. Kemper Area, and the Sprint Center, the committee decided that Kansas City could be a less costly option and would provide a unique new venue for the games. Paris and Los Angeles have both hosted the games twice. While unlikely as it is for Kansas City to be chosen, the national attention KC will receive from their bid could help improve their chances for future games further down the road.
