Larest Brown trout ever was caught on the Au Sable

On Saturday afternoon a 44″ brown trout weighing in at over 26 pounds was taken just south of guides rest on the main branch of the AuSable river. This leviathan was taken by Dirk Fischbach with a “mop fly” Unfortunately no camera was available to capture this huge beast. It was quickly returned to the water as this area is catch and release only. The story though hard to believe was verified by his trusty sidekick Martin Sulkanen who is quick to point out that the mop fly has been known to catch much bigger Browns in the south. This fish was returned to its natural habitat squeaky clean.
