A local Rantoul resident was arrested early sunday morning for operating a ATV on the highway between Sidell and Allerton IL. Initial reports say the man was riding at a high rate of speed through Sidell streets when the police were notified. He was then spotted east outside of Sidell heading into town on the main road. The police gave chase and the man was arrested outside of a residents on south chicago street. During the search of the man a 9mm handgun was discovered. His name is not being released at this time.
