Local Sugarcreek teen arrested for driving excessive speed

19 year old Shawn Alden was arrested April 28th for driving excessive speeds over 100mph. Sugarcreek Police say Alden was driving down Allegheny Blvd in a 2007 Ford Edge at speeds reaching over 100mph. Alden failed to stop at a red light which initiated a traffic stop. Alden did not stop and a police chase was initiated. The chase lasted for 15 minutes before Alden struck a guard rail sending his vehicle out of control. Alden’s vehicle proceeded down over the right shoulder into a wooded area. Alden left the vehicle and a 20 minute foot chase began. Officers detained Alden when he was found behind a gas well.

The following charges were pressed on Alden

Driving excessive speeds over 100mph – Felony 1

Driving under the influence of alcohol – misdemeanor 2

Open container within vehicle – misdemeanor 1

Resisting arrest – Felony 2

Failing to stop at a traffic stop – misdemeanor 1

Alden has been arained and sentenced on a $25,000 monetary bail

Alden’s court date is May 12th at 1pm
