Local Teton Valley Resident Arrested

Clayton Egbert was confronted by a police officer while walking to his mail box. It was around 2 p.m., and the officer was suspicious of what was in Mr. Egbert’s pocket. The cop asked if he could search Mr. Egbert, but he refused. The officer began to pat Mr. Egbert down anyway, and then My. Egbertβ€” who had chewing tobacco in his mouth β€” spat on the ground. It was apparently enough to land him in jail, where he was released on a $250 bail.
The arresting officer and another officer who later appeared at the scene were eventually disciplined for the pat-down and misconduct during their encounter.
