Man Caught Stealing Cattle

20 year old Moncton man is behind bars after he was caught trying to steal thousands of dollars worth of cattle late Saturday night.

Michael Bear Jr of Moncton was arrested and charged with cattle theft.

Sheriff’s deputies were called to a farm southeast of Dieppe around 4 a.m.

Sheriff Terry Park says Michael attempted to steal ten head of cattle with two other unknown men who fled the scene.

Parks says the rancher caught them in the process of leaving his land in a green 2008 four door jeep.

“The rancher gave chase and chased them approximately half a mile. Both passengers bailed out and ran off. The rancher was able to detain the driver of the Jeep until a deputy was able to arrive,” Park said.

The cattle were returned to the owner.

Deputies are searching for both men who fled.
