SWVA driver hits the big time

With the announcement from Dale Earnhardt Jr. that he will be retiring from Nascar after the 2017 season Hendrick motorsports have been scrambling to find a suitable replacement driver to take the wheel of the #88 car. A spokesman from Hendrick has been quoted as saying “we are currently watching local short track drivers around the country for a fresh face on our team”. As many fans know there have been many drivers of the years who have come from local tracks into Nascar and have excelled with the sport. During an interview earlier in the week Hendrick officials stated “We believe we have found a great addition to our racing family from a small area in Southwestern Virginia” when questioned about the identity of the new driver Hendrick officials showed video of a SWVA native Ermal Blevins Jr. who currently pilots the #61 car in the Pro Mini division at Wythe Raceway in Rural Retreat Virginia, Blevins has been a regular at Wythe Raceway since 2013 and has come up around racing and has told reporters “I am excited for the upcoming season and the opportunity at hand and I just hope to make my family, friends, and the good people at Hendrick proud”
