Three arrested in Lexington robbery

Lexington Police have arrested three suspects in an armed robbery case Thursday.

Lexington Police responded to a 911 call around 1:30 Thursday afternoon from residents of a Stoneybrook Court apartment saying they had been robbed at gun point. Lexington Police Chief Robert Crawford told LEX18 News that at least one of the suspects was supposedly armed with a rifle and one suspect was detained shortly after the call came in. The other suspects apparently fled on foot.

Crawford said the search for the suspects expanded into other areas of town. Lexington Police along with Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputies, The Fayette K9 Unit and the SBI expanded the search area along N. Upper Street, MLK Street, sixth street and beyond. Reports were received that the suspects had been seen in the area of High School Drive and the Goodwill Store.

After several hours of searching and following up on information gathered during the investigation, the suspects were eventually apprehended in the area of Studio West apartments on High street. Crawford said his department is still working the case. Three suspects are under arrest, and Crawford said the investigation was still underway and would probably continue on through the weekend.
