SHAFTER, Calif. – Police are looking for a man suspected in a shooting Friday night in Shafter. Investigators say just before 8:30 Friday night, Shafter Police were called to a report of a shooting on E. Orange Avenue.
When officers arrived, they found a man with gunshot wounds lying in the front yard. Witnesses advised the suspect fled the scene in a gray pick-up truck.
As the officers searched the area, police say they noticed the power was flickering on and off at the intersection of Central Valley Highway and Lerdo Highway. The officers responded to Lerdo Highway and Beech Avenue for a significant vehicle accident.
Police say It appears as though the suspect vehicle was eastbound on Lerdo Highway approaching Beech Avenue when another vehicle turned from westbound Lerdo Highway to southbound Beech Avenue. The suspect vehicle struck the other vehicle, then struck a power pole and sheered the pole off at the base. The suspect then fled the scene on foot. A perimeter was set up and the search continues for the suspect.
Police have identified the suspect as Scott McGuire, 25, 5-11, 230 lbs, with Bown Hair, and brown eyes.
