Agranoff, a junior at the University of Kansas, has been studying abroad in Israel this semester. The Tel Aviv police report that Agranoff had been under the influence of alcohol and massive amounts of ecstasy at the time of the armed robbery. Agranoff had broken into the home of Avigail Yehuti and Hannah Yehuti by breaking through their window with a baseball bat. Avigail reports that after being swung at with a baseball bat, he snatched the bat out of Agranoff’s hands and hit her over the right side of her head with the bat. Hannah proceeded to call the police while Agranoff laid unconscious on the couple’s living room floor. Agranoff appears to be in critical condition at Inchilov Hospital in Tel Aviv. Reports have shown that she has woken up from a coma but suffers from potential major brain damage and a severe concussion. After her stay at the Inchilov Hospital, she will be immediately transported to the Tel Aviv detention center. Her court date will take place in Tel Aviv on June 2, 2017. Her prison time is expected to be anywhere from 9 to 48 months for breaking and entering, attempted aggravated assault, and possession of illegal narcotics. Agranoff’s mother declined to be interviewed, but states that she never could have anticipated this type of behavior. Agranoff was an honor role student in high school, made the deans list in the journalism school at the University of Kansas, and has devoted a large amount of time to community service. Her mother also claims that this is not representative of her character, and that this was a mistake that was made from the use of an illegal narcotic.
