Authorities in Florida near Midson’s Blue Springs say say a shark bit a 42-year old Valdosta man while he was floating on his back in the Withlacoochee River Sunday. Florida Highway Patrol Sergeant Phil Yabottom said the man (Who has not been identified) said he felt a tug on his foot as the shark pulled it into his mouth, but the man was able to shake free and swim to shore. He was taken to the hospital for multiple puncture wounds to his foot.

Don Seentit saw the man come out of the water and said “I heard the guy yell, and then I seent him hopping a little bit and he came outta the water real fast. I thought maybe he got bit by a aggressive catfish or stumped his toe or somthin, and then I saw the blood gushing everywhere and we went over there. My buddy Rheemus and me got to him and Rheemus wrapped some duct tape around his foot to stop the bleedin. He was tore up pretty bad, but that duct tape don’t play.”
