Woman Drowns at Riverwalk Park While Man Watches

Yesterday evening, a 29 year old woman drowned in a pond at the River Walk Park while attempting to swim from one end of the pond to the other after a man refused to help her. A group of witnesses said they could hear the woman screaming for help but they thought it was a joke because there was a man sitting near the edge of the pond they assumed was with her, reading a bible completely unbothered by the woman’s pleas for help. When they didn’t see her come out of the water, they immediately called 911 to be cautious. BPD and emergency services quickly arrived on site and upon questioning the man who refused to help, he responded to BPD by saying that he “doesn’t save hoes”. Possible charges may result for 32 year old, Ralph Alvarado for his negligence in this case. The woman’s name is being withheld until coroner confirms her identity and the family is notified.
