Young Sparta Mother Wins $2.5 Million

Heidi Knutson, from Sparta IL, has won the $2.5 off of a $1 scratch off ticket from Casey’s gas station in Sparta IL. Just this morning, as she was getting gas at Casey’s around 7 am April 28th, 2017, she thought she might as well buy a cheap ticket for the day. She went to her sisters house with her daughter to visit. Heidi had stated that she never buys tickets hardly ever, but today she felt that she needed to randomly, and she ended up lucky, with $2.5 million.

Casey’s store manager Nick Murray, had stated to our producers, “We have never sold a winning ticket with an amount that large, everyone in the store was shocked!”

Heidi stated as she got to her sisters, she gave her daughter some toys to play with, and sat down to scratch off her ticket. She said, “I couldn’t believe at first when I had seen it, I never buy scratch off’s so I didnt want to get overly excited and make myself look a fool in front of my sister. I made her look at it, we went over it about 20 times, and finally realized it was true! We both was laughing and excited together.”

Our producers asked Heidi what she planned to do with $2.5 million, and her response was, “I am going to buy a house, buy everything my daughter and I needs, a new car, and save some for college classes.”
Heidi is the very first winner of a large amount in Sparta, Randolph County. Heidi will later be posted in Randolph County Journal, as well the Southern.
