Aaron “Hurricane” Reekie to fight Anthony Joshua in 2018

Up and coming boxer Aaron “Hurricane” Reekie is set to fight Anthony Joshua in 2018. Reekie’s management last week announced the decision for the young fighter to enter the WCB Middleweight Championship in late 2017 into 2018.

Reekie, who has been boxing since the age of 12 has held junior and amateur titles since 2008. Our reporter, Tom O’Connors, attended Croydon’s All Star Boxing Gym in April 2017 where Reekie commented “I am the hurricane for a reason. AJ is a good fighter – he’s fast on his feet and good at avoiding punches but he hasn’t faced someone of my speed yet! I think it could be the wake up call he needs!” Arrogant but truthful talk from the hard hitting youngster. Joshua has yet to meet any opponent with the hand speed of Reekie and it could be a painful lesson to learn. If AJ loses then Reekie will be the WCB Middleweight Champion of the World – that is a likely scenario and one that Joshua must acknowledge.
