A customer of Santoro’s Submarine Sandwiches in Burbank returned home with a sandwich she will never forget.
According to Valeria Gomez, she went to the submarine sandwich shop to get a sandwich for lunch Thursday and ordered a turkey with everything on it. She came home and while taking a bite out of the sandwich a long piece of something unrecognizable fell out.
“When I saw it hit the table my first thought was it was strong,” said Gomez. “My neighbor was over and we looked closely at it and realized it was a tail of a rat.”
Gomez said she’s called the restaurant but they thought it was a prank and hung up the phone on her. She then called the health department.
A spokesperson for the County Health Department confirmed they are looking into the matter but declined further comment.
