French Prosecutors Open Investigation Into Emmanuel Macron Over Email Leaks

The French Paris Prosecutor’s Office (PPO) has opened an investigation into the financial affairs of Emmanuel Macron and his alleged tax-evasion; involving a bank account in the Cayman Islands.

Pepe Lecroix, Director-General of Prosecutions for the Ile-de-France Directorate, told reporters an investigation into a series of digital communications revealed by Wikileaks is now underway. He declined to reveal further details.

Mr. Macron said in a press statement released on Friday that the allegations were “fraudulent and libellous”, and has comprehensively denied the allegations.
