Kentucky Lawmakers Pass “Modification” Vehicle Bill

Kentucky Lawmakers of the 7th District of Kentucky met Thursday morning and passed House Resolution 57.12, otherwise known to by many as the “Modification” Law that will affect many vehicles registered in the state of Kentucky.

“We are happy to bring this legislation into being… ” House Representative Sam Vicone said. “There are many of these modified vehicles on the road that do not meet federal safety regulations and can cause hazardous conditions to other drivers.”

“No vehicle is worth a human life” Vicone finished his speech with.

The law goes into effect starting September 1st, 2017.

Illegal modifications include: suspension adjustments, lowered vehicles, turbocharged vehicles not sold by authorized manufacturers, engine swaps to non-original engines, and aftermarket exhaust systems.

“It’s ridiculous.” Alex Mangold, owner of KY Customs and Speed Shop, in Louisville said. “This law is going to take food off of my family’s table.”

There are many like Mangold across the state of Kentucky who are outraged.

Failures to comply to the new law will result in fines up to $1,732.
