Madisonville City Park to Allow Nude Sunbathing

May 15th, the Madisonville city counsel plan to vote on allowing nude sunbathing in sections of the city park. The measure has been brought before the meetings time and time again but this is the first time it has had the backing of the city counsel. Under Kentucky law, KRS 510.150 makes it a class B misdemeanor when one intentionally exposes themselves under circumstances which they know to likely cause alarm to a person 18 or older. Madisonville city ordinances follow state law on many matters, this being one of them. But by allowing permits to be sold these individuals will no longer be breaking the law.
Foot golf did not go over as expected so we plan on using parts of that course for the sunbathers since those areas will not be visible from the roads or trails. The money we spent of foot golf will be made up with permits for those that wish to nude sunbathe. Signage will be posted warning visitors that they will encounter nude bathers in the particular area of the park.
Counsel members state, “this may shock some of the families that attend the park but in no way should deter visitors to the park now that alcohol is also being allowed.” Under the measure a permit will be required by the bather. No one under 18 will be allowed a permit. Opponents to the park changes are hardly pleased. Many very upset at what the community is allowing. Proponents to the measure are pleased and at the time of this report a few hundred are already waiting for the permits to become available.
