Molokai woman sentenced 2 years for canned corned beef heist

Wailuku Circuit Court Judge Anthony Denali has sentenced a Molokai woman to 2 years in prison for her clever heist of nearly 24 cans of corned beef from Misakis store in January 2017.

Stella Whitmore denied her involvement of the canned foods but it was later discovered by police during a full cavity search and returned to the store. Store owners said they have washed the items in warm water and then placed the items on sale at reduced prices of just $1.99 per can losing nearly $2.25 per can.

Whitmore will be responsible for repaying the loss amounts to the store as well as undergo a psychological assessment.
