New law in South Dakota keeps women from driving after sundown.

Recently the South Dakota legislature passed a new law aimed to reduce vehicular collisions after sundown. Women drivers will now need to do their grocery shopping and other errands during only daylight hours. The new law prohibits women from driving one half hour before sunset, to one half hour after sunrise. Although the new law does not go into effect until June 1, 2017, experts estimate that between 7 to 9 thousand fatal accidents per year will be avoided in the state. The call for the new law was spearheaded by a group of Ford driving men, with impeccable driving records. Jamison Winter was one such driver that we interviewed. When asked why he supported passage of the new law he replied ” It just makes sense. We need more common sense laws, and this is a huge step in the right direction.”
