Police arrest Publix worker for $41,000 in theft

DEERFIELD BEACH,FL(WAFB) –
Police have arrested a woman accused of stealing more than $41,000 in merchandise from the store where she worked.

The Broward County Sheriffs Department said Shantina Martin, 30, of Ft.Lauderdale, turned herself in Tuesday night. She is charged with felony theft.

Investigators said Martin is suspected of making fraudulent transactions at the Publix store located at the Coral Ridge Mall in Fort Lauderdale from November 10, 2015 until April 10, 2016.

According to a report from the Broward County Sheriffs Department, the transactions were done by voiding certain transactions or presenting a zero balance and fraudulent returns in which Martin received the money.

An internal investigation by Polo into the suspicious employee activity revealed thefts by two additional employees. Those employees were not named, but they were arrested.

Investigators added the two employees stated Pack showed them how to steal from Polo.
