PUB IN HISTORIC HAMPSHIRE TOWN IS APPROVED SITE FOR NEW MOSQUE

The French Horn public house in the historic Hampshire town of Alton is to close it’s doors in June 2017.
Local Alton residents were left shocked and angered on Friday as planning permission was granted for the demolition of an 18th century public house to make way for a new mosque.
Town Mayor, Councillor Matthew Bayliss stated that “this will be a sad loss to the local community but it will be a tremendous boost to the Muslim population who have been overlooked on so many occasions with the siting of a much needed place of worship”.
Work on levelling the site will begin in early July 2017.
