Runaway Train at Illinois Railway Museum, Kills 20 Instantly

The Union Illinois Police Department reported that the train couldn’t stop, in part due to a mechanical part, known as a Johnson bar, was missing entirely. The train crew didn’t notice it, and is therefore to blame. The department also stated that the train had run off IRM property, onto the UP mainline, where a Coal train was travelling in the opposite direction. IRM has stated that they are launching an investigation on how the Johnson bar went missing in the first place, and will be taking the thief to court.
