Walker Lands Unexpected Coaching Position with L.A.Sparks

Just when she thought coaching basketball was a thing of her past, Cleveland, MS native and former high school girls’ basketball coach, Jaboria Rash-Walker, received a call Tuesday evening from the Sparks’ management to be the next head coach.

“I initially thought it was a family member playing on the phone, but then as the GM (general manager) Pete Robbins, continued to talk and ask questions, I began to go in somewhat of a panic mode because this was definitely too good to be true. It was very unreal. I really still can’t believe this is happening. Oh my God, to God be the Glory! I just don’t know what else to say; I’m in total shock!”

Robbins told us that they knew Walker had been out of coaching for the last few years but that they had received information from a legendary coach who has ties with both Walker and one of the staff members of the Sparks highly recommending that they research and consider Walker in their search for a new coach.

A press conference will be held later this week to introduce Walker as the new coach for the WNBA’s Los Angeles Sparks.
