What we know about Weird Al’s new mixtape RENO

Parody music legend Weird “Al” Yankovic announced via Twitter a new mixtape RENO yesterday morning and we got a chance to talk with him. Yankovic said this new release isn’t going to be like his old music. Yankovic said he is “going back to his roots” and that “Parody music is so 2000 and late.” When questioned about his roots, he started going off about how he never wanted to be a parody artist in the first place. “When I first released my album ‘Off the Deep End’ it became an instant success however, I let the money get to me. Recently, I’ve been looking at the careers of Akon and T-Pain and I’ve been thinking to myself, I wanna be like them.” Yankovic talked about how he always saw himself growing up as a rapper, “Pussy money weed is all I really need.” We asked him if the new mixtape was going to be rap based and he said “that’s a very good possibility.”

Yankovic has told us we can expect the album to be released by August. He also hinted that there will be a few up and coming sneak previews and if you want to be the first to see them follow him over on twitter @alyankovic
