911 Dispatcher Hailed As “Best In Athens”

Bethany Wright, of Athens, Georgia, works for the Athens-Clarke County Police Department as a communications officer. Her shift leader, Lori Smith, frequently receives calls praising Wright for her outstanding work with the citizens of Athens-Clarke county.

“She’s just such a joy to work with. We laugh throughout the shift, and have our own private jokes. Honestly, if I could choose one person to have on my zombie apocalypse survival team, it wouldn’t be my husband. It would be Bethany.” Lori told us.

“I really love my position here. The people I work with are really just amazing. Especially that Tammy Cowart. She’s a hoot.” Bethany said, eyes sparkling with tears of happiness.

In our time observing Bethany in the 911 center, she was professional when needed, but she also has such a warmth about her that the others simply didn’t have.

We also interviewed some of the road officers, asking them about their interactions with Bethany. Every single officer we spoke with couldn’t praise her enough.

“She’s the best dispatcher I’ve ever worked with.” Said one.

“A true diamond in the rough. And let me tell you, most of the Dispatchers here are rough.” Said another.
