American citizen arrested in Nanton, Alberta Canada on weapons chargea

June 29th, 2017 Nanton, Alberta Canada. RCMP recovered two weapons today as they pulled over a red pickup truck with expired Utah plates. The routine stop turned problematic for the 39yr old Utah resident when officers spotted a rifle bag in the back seat.

When he was unable to produce the necessary permits to show legal possession and importation of a military style rifle and 9mm pistol officers booked him on charges relating to imporoper importation and possession of an illegal firearm.

When questioned the man claimed he had forgotten that the weapons were in his truck as he had just gotten done “going hunting with friends for rabbits”. He claimed he had came up to Alberta to see his girlfriend but when officers tried to reach out to her the number provided by the man had been disconnected.

While in jail waiting for charges to be filed the man is facing a long legal process that is likely to consume his entire summer as he waits in the Nanton jail
