Basile man arrested on offshore platform.

A Basile man was arrested this morning and faces multiple charges. According to a USCG spokesperson, the USCG received several reports pertaining to Pyrotechnic Distress signals being fired from an offshore production platform in the Eugene Island field. The USCG and company personnel responsible for operating the platform were unable to make contact with the personnel onboard the facility. The USCG dispatched a “Eurocopter HH-65 Dolphin” from the 8th district headquarters, at New Orleans sector base to investigate the situation. USCG officers eventually arrested 33 year old Joseph Jenkins. Jenkins was found illegally possessing 42 red snapper, three cobia, and a marlin. He did not possess a saltwater fishing license, was over the limit and out of season for the red snapper & cobia, and the marlin was below the minimum size limit. Officials say that when asked if distress signals were fired from this facility, Jenkins said “(explicit) Yeah man, did you see the size of that (explicit) marlin? We were just celebrating with some old expired flares, besides it’s almost the (explicit) 4th anyway. MERICA!!” USCG and LDWF are expected to release more details later in the day. In the meantime, Get your @ss back to work!!!!
