BBC recruits M.A. Larson as writer for Doctor Who series 11

Earlier today, Steven Moffat revealed in a private Twitter post that the writer hired to replace him for series 11 of Doctor who is none other than M.A. Larson, notorious head writer of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic.
While fans of both shows reacted with much anticipated shock, Moffat had this to say, “M.A. Larson has seamlessly made his way into the writing staff of MLP, drawing even more viewers, both adults and children, to the show than ever before. We can’t wait to see what he’ll do with Doctor Who, and what surprises he has in store.”
Many fans of MLP were skeptical of Larson when he was first introduced to the show staff, following the resignation of Lauren Faust, creator of MLP FIM.
“Their skepticism never really went away,” Larson laughs in an interview, “And yeah, I have definitely gained a lot of critics over the years. But the show needs to change to survive in our changing society, and I think the Doctor Who team has the same idea.”
Larson has confirmed that he is stepping down from the MLP staff in my order to give his full attention to Doctor Who, and that he will be replaced by Jeremy Zag, creator of miraculous ladybug.
“Both shows will be seeing a lot of change in the coming years,” Larson explains, “I know Jeremy is going to experiment with more CGI in MLP after using the movie as a test market.”
Larson also hinted that there may be some coming MLP references in series 11.
“I can’t say much for now,” he says, “but I will say that there may be some very Alicorn-esque aliens in the coming seasons.”
Despite Moffat and Larson’s reassurances, many fans are outraged at this announcement. Moffat offered these final words on the subject.
“We chose Larson specifically because of the controversy it would cause! He’s overcome skeptics in MLP, and succeeded in making the show more popular than ever. We think he can do the same in Doctor Who, and I’m proud to have him take my place.”
Fans may not be so quick to buy that though, as Larson later admitted he had no previous connection with Doctor Who before being offered the job.
“I’ve never watched it myself,” Larson laughs, “but I see a lot of merchandise and stuff around the Internet, so I’m sure it’s a great show.”
Though season 11 of Doctor Who isn’t showing a lot of promise, perhaps we’ll be pleasantly surprised by this daring choice in new head writer.
