Black bear spotted in Central Indiana, Local retiree commended for staying calm in a dangerous situation.

Local retiree and Resident Ruth Bates was commended early Thursday morning for “staying calm” in a dangerous situation.

Bates, 52, was awoken around 5 a.m. When a black bear try to gain entry to her residence. Bates, having prior experience with ” bear encounters” gave the creature the “BUG EYES” and the bear ran for the Hills.

A later statement from Bates reflected on the situation by saying ” don’t underestimate the power of the bug eyes or a bears ability to smell a ribeye from miles away!”
