FIRST WOUNDED WARRIOR TO GO TO SPACE!

The first US Army veteran and amputee Sgt. Joey Banegas was one of ten to be selected for the 2018 trip to the International Space Station. He will be starting his training for the program this summer. Joey was a combat wounded veteran who received two Purple Hearts. First wounded by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) and just three days earlier a Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) in Afghanistan back in 2004. This trip to space will be the first time in history that NASA allows an amputee to go to space. These new astronauts in training are expected to be orbiting the earth for 3 months before coming back.
