Hammond Man Arrested On Hate Charges

(Hammond, LA)

George Daniel, 56 of West Thomas Rd., was apprehended by Hammond Police deputies today at approximately 4PM, in front of the former RadioShack on Railroad Ave. Bystanding shoppers at the neighboring CVS Pharmacy contacted HAMMOND PD after reportedly seeing Daniel strike an African American male with a boat anchor, knocking him unconscious in the parking lot. Bystanders reported watching Daniel follow the victim, later identified as 19 year old Jamal Peters of Southeastern Louisiana University, out of the pharmacy shouting racial slurs at the young man. “Come put that F*cking soda back in the case you Mother*ucking NIG*ER!”. Deputy Ronald Clementine of Hammond PD also stated that Peters asked Daniel to reportedly “please leave me alone” before Daniel threatened to strike him with his Toyota Tundra truck. According to CVS officials, the young man innocently purchased a soda pop, as George Daniel unprovoked, began making “animal noises” at the customer. Daniel is currently being held at the Hammond Police Department on a bail of $53,000.
