Jamaica Native, Sasha-Kay Patrick Wins $28 Million Powerball

Sasha-Kay Patrick, 26, of Waterbury has won the 2017 Powerball Lottery. Sasha met us outside of her house for a news briefing on Wednesday to share with us her excitement on winning the big ticket. Sarah Artman, our Channel 23 News broadcaster conducted the interview.

When asked how she would spend this money, Ms. Patrick replied, “I will be giving it to my church and paying off all of my student loans. I will also spend half of every year in Jamaica for the rest of my life. You know, I want to be closer to my mother at least half of the year.”

Patrick also says that she will buy a house in the suburbs of Waterbury and open up her own version of her favorite restaurant, Olive Garden. “I’m going to call it, All of Garden. Because it belongs to all of us. I am so excited!”

Patrick’s family is also very happy to have a family member so close. Her father, Frederick has quit his job. He was seen outside of his office yelling, “forget this place! My daughter is a million year!” Her younger brother, Chris, has crashed his car into his old job as a revenge against his now ex-boss. His bail is set to $1,000. He was immediately bailed out.

“I’m so ready to buy all the clothes I can manage,” Patrick said.
