Local Jacksonville Beach man catches world record fish

Jacksonville Beach resident Steven Begue possibly caught a world record redfish yesterday weighing in at 78.4 pounds. Officials say that this could possible be the largest fish of its kind. Not only is it possibly the largest fish but amazingly it was caught on light tackle. “I missed the 5:15 ferry so I grabbed my pole out of the truck and headed down to the bulkhead to kill some time. My first cast and BLAM!!! That thing took off like a scorned puppy.” Bystanders were amazed at the event taken place. Jacksonville resident Scott Holmes age 55 said it was the most amazing thing he has ever seen. FWC was called to the scene to record the catch. “This is the most amazing thing I have ever seen in my career as a FWC officer” said Traci Rae Ivey. Mr. Begue is a hero not only because his angling skills but he kept the fish alive. Sea World rescue arrived last night to pull the fish out of the water and transported the mosnter to headquarters in Orlando. The fish will be in display in a few weeks.
