Louisville Woman Facing Animal Theft Charges

Scarlet Garrity, of Louisville, is facing charges today of animal theft. Police say this is the end of a six month investigation into a chicken theft ring that has been terrorizing Jeffersontown neighborhoods. One victim, who wishes to remain anonymous, shared his experience: “Every morning I go out to my really cool urban farm on my composite deck to retrieve eggs from my hens. At first, she was just stealing the eggs. But then, the chickens started disappearing, too.” Acting on a tip, police arrived with a search warrant at Garrity’s residence and discovered 87 chickens hanging out in a backyard pool. When asked why she did it, Garrity simply responded, “I just got greedy.”
