MAN AMBUSHED AND SHOT IN OVERBROOK

OVERBROOK – Philadelphia police are searching for a gunman who ambushed and shot a man who was getting out of a car in Overbook Park.

Action News has now learned the victim Andrew Sherwood a 34-year-old man with a. police record was targeted by gunmen two months ago in West Palm Beach, Florida.

The incident happened at 1:30 p.m. on the 1400 block of North 75th Street in Overbrook Park.

Police say the driver had just parked outside Robert E. Lamberton School.

One neighbor heard the shots from her bedroom.

“I dozed off, and I heard five shots,” Cathy Reed told Action News. “And they were very loud, which told me it was extremely close…. It was so loud and close I felt it was safer for me to remain lying (down) rather than stand up.”

“The vehicle was struck three times by gunfire,” said Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small. “Two bullets entered the vehicle.”

Action News is told the victim has an extensive police record for drug and weapons offenses.

Sources say he was shot at 2 months ago while living in West Palm Beach , Florida.

Police say the entire incident was captured by a home surveillance system.
