Pope John Middle School test scores causes a wave of controversy.

Pope John schools have seen many changes in recent years from building expansions to a huge influx of new students following the closings of several local catholic schools. According to the Education Bishop of the Archdioceses of Newark Father Yurvan Yackowitz. Pope John students test scores have measured far beyond expectations. As a result Pope John students were chosen for a pilot exchange program. Students of Camden, Newark and Bayonne NJ will be trading places with Sparta’s elite Pope John students. Father Yurvan Yackowitz explained how the selection process will work using a lottery system. We are very excited to give the inner city children a chance to experience life in Sparta. And give Sparta children the rare opportunity to experience life in an inner city setting. It will be life changing.
So far there are 7 host families who are undergoing background checks in Sparta and Father Yurvan Yackowitz hopes to have a total of 18 by the start of the program this Fall. There are another six in each of the inner city locations of Bayonne, Camden and Newark preparing to host Sparta students. Father Yurvan Yackowitz says the pilot exchange program will run a full semester. When asked if the program will receive resistance in the Our Lady of the Lake community which is the backbone of Reverend Brown Elementary, Pope John Middle and High Schools. Father Yurvan Yackowitz says he’s confident once revealed the church community will adjust and grow to appreciate the the exchange program.
