Willmar man charged with wreckless endangerment in strange case of peppers.

40 year old Christopher Schueler is being charged in Hennepin County District court in one of the strangest cases we’ve seen this year.

District attorney Michael Flynn calls it a “Case of spicy obsession”. Christopher, a cook at Famous Daves in Uptown Minneapolis came to the attention of health inspectors after several complaints of orders being excessively spiced. Upon further investigation it was learned that Chris was adding a blend of habanero and ghost pepper to nearly every dish.

Ghost pepper is one of the hottest peppers on the planet and can have some serious side affects to a small percentage of the population. Channel 23 reached out to Chris for comment and when we asked him about the issue he said, “I thought that the pepper sauce that I created would bring a needed spiciness to the lives of people who have just become too boring.” He does now express some regret however stating, “I really thought that I was helping people. Now I’m facing jail and time away from my kids. They don’t even have jalepenos in jail.”

Chris plans on pleading. I contest. The case goes in front of Judge Loren Carlsbad in late July.
