BBC Apologizes for casting female Doctor

In an unprecedented move by the BBC, Doctor Who show runners have walked back their casting of Broadchurch actress Jodie Whittaker. “We made a terrible mistake,” said Chris Chibnall, the show’s new director. “Jodie was great on Broadchurch, but a female Doctor? What were we thinking?!”

BBC executive Charlotte Moore released this statement, “To all our Doctor Who fans, we are so very sorry. We had no idea what was going through Chris’ mind when he made this decision, but you can be certain that the Doctor will always have a Y-chromosome.”

It’s suspected that David Tennant, the show’s 10th Doctor and also starred with Whittaker on Broadchurch may have had some say in the decision. When told of the person who would be taking over the keys to the TARDIS – the fictional police box that’s bigger on the inside – Tennant was seen scowling uncontrollably. “He didn’t want to go,” said Chibnall.
