Boating and Fishing Soon to be Illegal on Treasure Coast

Starting August 11, 2017, the use of any vessel will be illegal along Florida’s Treasure Coast. The new law includes kayaks, paddle boards, canoes, and any motorized vessel. This law is being put in place for a pre-existing and new reasons, one being the safety of our marine life, including manatees, which have been subject to a 40% increase of lacerations from boat motors from 2015-2017. The most recent reason, however, is the amount of treasure to be found along the coast. The Florida government has decided that any treasures found, starting August 11th, belongs in a museum and not in the hands of treasure hunters.
